General Surgery Practice Dr. Dunning returned to California and began a solo private practice in general & vascular surgery in the city of Salinas. In 1991 he joined a multi-specialty group practice in Wisconsin, but returned to private practice in Colorado after three years. In 2004, after doing locum tenens work at War Memorial Hospital, Dr. Dunning relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Areas of Special Interest Dr. Dunning began his surgical career with an interest in shock and trauma care, as well as peripheral vascular surgery. In 1989 with the introduction of minimally invasive surgery techniques, Dr. Dunning became very interested in this surgical approach and was an early adopter of many of these newer techniques to standard general surgical operations. In addition to his areas of special surgical interest, Dr. Dunning has continued to practice a broad range of general surgery including special chest operations and endoscopy. Credentials

Hobbies Before deciding on a career in medicine, Dr. Dunning was a musician and helped to finance his education through musical performances. He has continued his love of all types of music. Dr. Dunning has published on the Internet on the topic of leitmotifs in the Wagner opera Der Ring Das Nieblelungen.
